A wood screw designed for use in "pocket holes" that features high-low threads, a modified pan head that is rectangular in shape instead of round on top, a square drive, a type 17 chip cavity (also called an Auger Point)at its tip. The high-low threads give the screw superior holding power over fine or coarse thread, but also serve to reduce wood splitting and can be used in a variety of woods. The square drive, also called a Robertson Drive, provides for good cam out resistance, and the Type 17 point is designed to prevent wood splitting and allows for faster starting due to easier chip evacuation. These screws are also called face frame screws and pocket hole screws.
